HELP - TREE - DIRECT LINE CHART

The "Direct Line" chart will display the selected family line for the Primary Person as a vertical pedigree chart.

There are (8) possible Great-Grandparent lines to choose from.

OPTIONS:

1. GENERATIONS = Choose how many generations back you want to go for the line chosen:

  • 5 = 3x Great-Grandparents.
  • 6 = 4x Great Grandparents.
  • 7 = 5x Great Grandparents.

2. WHAT LINE = Choose what line you want to feature on the chart.  There are (8) options to choose from, representing the (8) possible Great-Grandparents. The options will be their respective surnames if known.  If not known then the options will show various combination of Paternal and Maternal lines.

PAT = Paternal.
MAT = Maternal.

For example "PAT-MAT-PAT" would be the Paternal-Maternal-Paternal line, which would be the Primary Person's Father's Mother's Father's line.

3. PHOTOS & FLAGS? = Choose if you want the chart to display profile photos and birth country flags.

  • Yes = Will show profile photos and birth country flags.
  • No = Won't display profile photos and birth country flags.

4. CREATE = Click this once you have the options set to create the chart.

*You can always manually delete and add images to the chart after creating.

HOW TO READ:

The chart will display the Primary Person at the bottom and then vertically display each generation back.

This chart will have an open area (A) that you can add any pictures/maps too OR use it to write narrative for that line.

Spouses of the first (3) generations of ancestors will be off to the side (B).

The title of the chart will be the surname of the selected line if known (C).

Marriage dates, if known, for each couple will be displayed in the pink boxes (D).

The colors will correspond to the current design scheme for ancestors.

Non-biological parents will display an " * " after the parent's name.

*See CHART OPTIONS for more details on editing the default chart.
