HELP - TREE - FLAGS

Certain ancestor charts will display a person's birth country flag to help show where each line of the family originated from.

In order for a flag to display on applicable charts a person's birth country input must match a flag file's name EXACTLY.

*If a person was born abroad then you will have to manually change the flag on the charts to your preference.  For example if a U.S. citizen was born in Germany and you input that as their birth country, then the German flag will display.  If you want the U.S. flag to display instead you will have to manually change it on the chart.

The file will come with (82) common country flags in the "MEDIA\FLAGS" subfolder.

ADDING:

There are (2) ways to add a new flag file to the directory.

*Any new flag file MUST be a .PNG file type to work.

1. Manually drag the file you want to add into the "MEDIA\FLAGS" subfolder.

2. Add a file thru the Tree workbook:

  • Double click "CHANGES" (A) on the Tree worksheet.
  • Select "FLAG FILES" under "CHOOSE A CATEGORY" (B).
  • Click the "ADD" button (C).
  • Select the image file you want to add (Must be .PNG file)
  • Enter a valid country name for the file and click "OK"

*The file name must match a person's birth country exactly to display.

Repeat these steps for as many flag files as you want.

EDITING:

You can change the name of any of the default files if you prefer an alternate version of a country name.
