HELP - TREE - IMPORT TREE

 

This option allows you to move over your existing Family TreeXcel Tree data to a new version of the file.

This should be used for when new versions are released to easily move all your data to the new version without re-starting.

 

RULES & LIMITATIONS:

1. Make sure the old Tree Excel workbook is not open.
2. Make sure the old Tree Excel workbook does not have the same filename as the new Tree Excel workbook.
3. Make sure the old Tree Excel workbook is at least version 3.0 or later
4. Version 3.0 Profile & Research workbooks will be moved over and still function but in order to use the latest features of those respective workbooks you will need to create a new Profile or Research workbook for a person and start over.

 

IMPORT TREE:

1. Double click on "IMPORT" (A).
2. Click on "EXISTING TREE" (B).
3. Read the Prompt then press "Yes" (C).

4. Select the old Tree Excel workbook you want to import (D).
5. A prompt will display when finished.

If the import was successful you can now delete the entire directory of the old Family TreeXcel files or save it as a back up.

*This process can take a few seconds to a few minutes depending on how many people are in your tree - please be patient.

*If you have less than 6,000 people and this process takes more than 5 minutes or if relationships are incorrect then check TROUBLESHOOTING for help.
