HELP - TREE - INSTALL

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Download the acquired zip file via the instant download or email link.

*You can only use the download link ONCE.

2. Right click on the downloaded zip folder and select "Extract All..."

3. Extract the files from the zip folder to any LOCAL drive on your computer

* Do NOT extract and save the files to a cloud storage drive (i.e. OneDrive). Saving onto a USB flash drive should be fine.

*Once extracted the original zip folder will no longer needed but should be saved as a backup - repeat Step #2-3 if you want to create multiple Trees OR if something goes wrong and you need to start the installation over.

4. Do NOT rearrange the directory or rename any of the subfolders after installing. See DIRECTORY for more details.  

5. When your ready to begin - open the Tree Excel workbook in the unzipped folder directory (A).

6. The workbook is a macro-enabled Excel file.  You must enable content if prompted (B). This should only happen the first time you open the file and if you change the filename. 

*All files obtained directly from Family TreeXcel are safe and free of malicious macros.

7. You can now start a tree from SCRATCH, import a GEDCOM, or import an EXISTING Family TreeXcel Tree.
